this is dark interior.
Not a style. A way of living — after the lights go low.

Come inThe idea
Dark interior is not a design. It's what happens when you stop decorating for other people. Deep walls. Low light. Materials you want to touch before you understand them. It isn't for everyone. It was never meant to be.
Most rooms are made to be photographed. These are made to be lived in at 2 a.m. — with the music a little too loud and the conversation getting honest.
Darkness here isn't gloom. It's depth. It's the colour that makes everything else glow: brass, skin, velvet, a single flower, the city outside.
The work
-
01
Spaces
Complete interior concepts for homes, apartments and hospitality. From the first conversation to the last dimmer setting.
-
02
Atmosphere
Light, colour, texture, temperature. The part of a room you can't photograph — and the only part people remember.
-
03
Furniture & objects
Sourced, commissioned, curated. Pieces with weight, history or nerve. Ideally all three.
-
04
Art
Original works for walls that deserve more than a print. Offered privately.
-
05
For architects
Fifteen years of working alongside architects. I know how to step into a project, carry the interior and not slow anyone down.
02 Track record
Fifteen years in the dark.
Hotels. Lounges. Apartments. Designed for architects in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin and Hamburg — rooms you may have sat in without knowing who chose the colour of the walls.
The mood
Atmosphere studies — not client projects.
04 The collection
Opening quietly.
Furniture, objects and art — chosen the way I'd choose them for my own rooms. The collection isn't public yet. When it opens, the first look goes to the people who asked.

05 Art
Art that doesn't ask permission.
Original works, selected and sold privately. No gallery noise, no price tags on the wall. If a piece speaks to you, you'll hear it. Then you ask.
- IOriginals only.
- IIShown in private, by request.
- IIIPlaced where it belongs — or not at all.
06 Fair warning
Not for everyone.
- You'd rather have one room that stops time than five that look nice.
- You think candlelight is a lighting concept.
- You've never once asked for “something neutral”.
- You want people to lower their voice when they walk in.
- You want it to look like the catalogue.
- You're afraid of the colour of your walls.
- You need everybody to like it.
- Bright and airy is the brief.
07 Behind it
Rob O’Liva.
I don't design dark rooms. I live in them. This is just me saying it out loud.
For about fifteen years I've been shaping interiors for architects all over Germany — hotels, lounges and apartments in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin and Hamburg. Most of that work carries other names on the door. That's fine. It taught me what a room needs, and what it can do without.
Somewhere along the way I stopped calling it a style. Dark interior is how I live: fewer, better things. Light where it matters. Colour with nerve. Rooms that feel like a held breath.
If that sounds like you, we'll get along.
